Today, we’re dialing the time machine to April 25th, 1990. Today marked the beginning of a new era in space exploration, as the Hubble Space Telescope was launched by the Discovery space shuttle.
We’ll also explore another launch of a new era: 90’s pop culture. Nothing quite like it.

On April 25, 1990, the Hubble Space Telescope took its first leap into the cosmos, hitching a ride on the space shuttle Discovery like the world’s most expensive carry-on. Suspended above Earth by Discovery’s robotic arm, Hubble looked less like a telescope and more like a giant space thermos, ready to sip the secrets of the universe.
The deployment was high-stakes: five astronauts, 24,000 pounds of hardware, and a robotic arm that would make any claw machine jealous. After years of delays due to the Challenger disaster, Hubble finally got its moment. Despite a rocky start with blurry vision, it soon became the superstar of space science, dazzling us with cosmic selfies and rewriting astronomy textbooks for decades to come.

The turn of the century always brings a inflection point in fashion. The 80s were defined, but what would the 90s bring? Will the changes be subtle, or in-your-face?
We really leaned into denim in the 90s. Some call the all-denim look a “Canadian Tuxedo”. Some call it “90s casual”.
