But Mom...EVERYBODY is getting an iPod for Christmas!
Tonight, we’re dialing the time machine to December 22nd, 2001. Christmas was just three days away, and we were praying that one of those boxes under the tree was an iPod 1G.
Thanks for tuning into Episode #3 of On This Day! Do us a favor and send this newsletter to the first person you knew who got an iPod. 🚀
December 22nd, 2001 📆
Apple had just released this thing called an iPod on November 10th, so of course, we HAD to have it on our Christmas list. The iPod 1G had 5 GB (which could hold over 1,000 songs) and the first-ever movable scroll wheel.
They sold for $399. Check out the promotional video that blew all our minds. 👇

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring had just been released in the U.S. (December 19th), birthing a whole new generation of geeks (myself included). This was part one of the LOTR trilogy, which would go on to be one of the highest-grossing movie trilogies of all time.
